Grandpa Ali & Friends is a comic strip series that tells the story of an intergenerational Somali-Canadian family, through the mischievous and heart warming antics of the title character, Grandpa Ali, and his family. He is the spontaneous and unfiltered "community grandpa" of our childhoods, with an unequivocal love for tea. And then there is his daughter Luul; Queen of WhatsApp chain messages, original designer of the hijabi bluetooth, and only lets her kids go outside to go to school or the library. Grandpa Ali & Friends explores the multi-faceted experiences of the immigrant family through layered storytelling, and juxtaposing intergenerational relationships. Follow along as your favourite characters navigate quirky familial interactions, cross-cultural friendships and the black Muslim immigrant experience.
