"When you're old, try to live someplace warm." This advice, overheard on the wintry streets of Philadelphia, inspired two professionals to pull up roots upon retirement and move into a south Florida community of elders. Little did they know that by choosing an apartment in idiosyncratic Building Six, they were aligning themselves with a rebellious set of individuals under siege by a harried director. How the newcomers and their neighbors manage, in a one-size-fits-all communal setting, to hold onto their independence and long-held values makes for a lively story, complete with the perils of aging, a destructive hurricane, a couple of protest movements and, even, for one of the main characters, an ill-fated encounter with the law.
