"Landscapes of the Mind" is the second collection of poetry by Susan J. Rogers. The cover art is by Luisa-Maria Potter. Some of these poems have appeared in di-vêrsé-city: Anthology of the Austin International Poetry Festival and Blue Hole: A Magazine of the Georgetown Poetry Festival. In addition, several poems were featured on the 2017 Texas Nafas show on the public cable television station in Austin, Texas where the author was interviewed about her poetry. In her first book, "In the Beginning: an Egg, a Mask, a Woman," Rogers used poetry to invoke the goddesses of multiple cultures to protect us in modern times. In her new book, "Landscapes of the Mind," Rogers continues to combine personal and mythic tales in ways that reveal that the ancient goddess of our ancestors has never left us. Instead, she has always been here, hiding in plain sight. Rogers interprets mythology and religion to rediscover stories we thought we knew. She invokes contemporary heroines to bring us the courage we need to rise above personal and historical oppression. Rogers also uses the landscapes of the places she has lived to describe how the magic and healing properties of the earth surround and sustain us.
