Is the house a haven or a horror? A portal to the past or portent of the future? Jason Graham and Martha Conklin, each bearing deep emotional scars from their past, embark on a fascinating and frightening journey. Seeking closure to their memories, will they find a more important mission to pursue? This is short novel spanning a very long time. A time perhaps that never was and never will be againThis story is about an ordinary guy that has an extra-ordinary experience. Family abuse suffered as a child prompts an escape from reality jumping to different places and different time periods, some even into the apocalyptic future. All the places and time periods seem to link to each other or back to the main character's life or even the storyteller. There were stories within the stories just like a house in a closet. Throughout the story there were strong, thought-provoking statements about our society and the direction it may be heading. I love the fact that I kept wondering if the story is true the whole time. Thoughts of familiar stories popped into my mind throughout reading including "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Somewhere in Time" and "Chronicles of Narnia" which all fall within my favorites. I really think this one could be made into a movie!Laurel Whitney Jan 8, 2019
