Town Creek Indian Mound is hosting its anniversary Pow Wow celebration, and the entire Tillery community is excited. Sheriff's daughter, Lannie Reese, will be reporting on the triathlon and other events for her school newspaper, as well as participating in the kayak race and archaeological dig. Storytelling, athletic competitions, and digging for artifacts should be fun, right? But the triathlon is not just fun and games for everyone. Lannie's brother, Brady, is a favorite to win until he is challenged by a relentless competitor with a connection to Sheriff Reese's past. Then a bloody message is discovered in the Temple Mound. It quickly becomes obvious that someone doesn't want the Pow Wow to continue. Could it be an Indian curse, like Lannie's friend suggests? Or is someone trying to make sure that something in the past stays buried? Lannie is determined to find out what is behind the events at Town Creek, but at what cost?
