A contemporary, illustrative, insightful commentary about the parables of Jesus Christ in full colour. The most exciting aspect of the parables is getting to know the heart of the man who told them, Jesus Christ. He has a remarkably laconic way of speaking, using few but loaded words to describe big life changing concepts. He gets impatient when he knows he's done all he can for his audience to grasp something. He gets angry at any inhibitors of prayer. He has a very potent catchphrase he uses both in the gospels and the book of Revelation, ("He who has an ear, let him hear"). But most importantly Jesus reveals the heart of the Father, providing unequaled access to the only God of this world. Parables are similes explaining principles to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson which can be applied for better living. Often parables are accompanied by a teaching and other times it is not explained. It is important for parables to be seen in their context, their setting, and what was said before and after so that more can be inferred. But because the Bible is the 'Living' Word of God, means that even though I've pulled all I believe I could from the depths of each parable, it continues to yield more with each study, which means this parable project shall no doubt remain a work in progress. This a commentary of the twenty-nine parables spoken by Jesus Christ, and one true story of what has often been construed as a parable, but is not. My resources in explaining them have been prayer, the promptings of the Holy Spirit, the Bible itself of course, which I believe interprets itself when investigating parallel passages, and a number of commentaries. What a joyous and delightful journey this has been!
