Fate was a predominant thought in ancient Greek society. Mortals could not escape the will of the gods. Why weren't the ancient Greeks masters of their fate?This essay undertakes to use the few available sources to offer the reader concrete information on a dark historical period. The investigation method used is that taught in the history course of the University of Milan, that is, by trying to carefully analyze the available sources. This essay may be useful for understanding the method of rational historical investigation.
