Juneau Rigging
Juneau Rigging is a young man of modest ambition living in Winters, a small farming town in the Sacramento Valley. He lives quietly as a part-time writer who supplements his income with whatever job will pay the bills. When he celebrates the end of winter in 1989 with a bike ride into the largely uninhabited mountains between Winters and the Napa Valley, a flat tire leads to a chance encounter with Dr. Chester Turmoil. Turmoil is a wealthy tech entrepreneur with public service ambitions exploding in every direction. Turmoil plans to build an estate in a remote mountain valley to set an energy efficiency example for the world. He hires Juneau to chronicle the development of the project. The estate project adds a complex web of relationship problems to Turmoil's already complicated life, leading to confrontations, mystery and apparent death. Timeless human drama - attachment, rejection, withdrawal and sudden loss - is woven through a tapestry of the singularly unusual character and ambitions of Dr. Chester Turmoil and events that change the course of Juneau Rigging's life.
