We live in an age of entrenched
political loyalties, suppurating anger,
a frenzied media saturating us
with unrelenting sensationalism.
What poetry reminds us of,
sometimes with just whispers,
is the beauty that does exist
in the world and in ourselves
when we slow down enough
to see, hear, and feel it. Faith, hope, love, luck, and... The End of the Rainbow is a collection of poems from the perspective of a middle-aged single father and combat veteran. The first section, Occam's Wager, explores not just what it means to be human in a general sense, but specifically what it is to be Matthew waking up each morning to life's challenges, triumphs, and everything in-between. The Silence, the next section, attempts to bring voice to the combat veteran experience across time. The final, titular section is a selection from the story of a family in crisis and what they find at the end of their rainbow.
