These values are directly derived from the facts of the biosphere, the existential status of every human being, and the need to adopt a definitive concept of truth for understanding and action. Our traditional worldview is false and imploding, so we need to quickly critique it and move on to creating a new one that actually honors truth, the natural world, and the dignity of each human. These values can act as criteria for evaluating existing and future institutions. Without this major shift in consciousness and corresponding behavior, it looks like our species may be doomed.
