Hajj and Umrah involve visiting the Kabah and performing an associated set of rituals. Both Hajj and Umrah are highly regarded acts of worship. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stated, "Umrah is expiation for the sins committed between it and a previous Umrah. And the reward for an accepted Hajj is none other than Paradise" (Bukhari and Muslim). Umrah is a sunnah act and can be performed at almost any time during the year. Hajj, on the other hand, is mandatory once during the lifetime of an adult who can afford it and must be performed from the 8th through the 13th of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah (collectively referred to as the Days of Hajj).
