In Gina's dream tonight there is a scientist waiting. He tells Gina that her dream is a portal, a portal to a parallel universe. On the scientist's home planet of Ocla they have built a machine to reach across the multiverse, across infinite possibilities, to find just her, and to bring her back to Ocla. When Gina meets the man's daughter, she realizes that she is meeting a younger, alternate version of her own self. Things are more complicated than they seem. The scientists of Ocla have found a third universe, and a planet they call Earth 2. On Earth 2, war rages and the AI robots are making a stand. In this universe or the next, actions have consequences. Why do the scientists need just Gina? Will she make it back alive?
