These two stories are taken from the A Kiss Before Strangling series. The first story covers Lieutenant Peter Younger's early career from 1942-43 when he's hired by the Tillman, Nebraska Police Department in March 1942 till he's drafted into the army in February 1943. During this time he has to stop a group of serial abusers who beat their wives. The second story covers his time as a Military Police officer in Alabama from May 1943 till he's sent to Europe in February 1944.
