Whatever the cause, civilization is over. The dead now walk the Earth. Sylvia is trying her best to cope. Her antisocial husband is obsessed with a dark, shadowy conspiracy. Her depressed brother-in-law rants and raves about global warming. But when her brash sister, Nina, shows up, life becomes even more complicated. Together the group embarks on an odyssey that takes them through zombie-infested Hartford, down the Connecticut River, and out into Long Island sound, where they're shipwrecked on Plum Island. That's when they meet twelve-year-old Jade, a delightful young killer who joins them. The girl's presence changes everything. She brings out the best (and worst) in each member of this dysfunctional family, threatening long-established bonds of loyalty.
