Democracy is the most complex and polysemantic type of political regime in the forms of implementation. Debates have not ceased about the meaning of the term "democracy" for seven centuries, since 1260, when the word was first used in the translation of Aristotelian "Politics". There is short analysis of forming of democratic basis in the societies of European states and cities in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance: modern territories of Scandinavia, France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy and some polis cities such as Venice.
