Ever Schreave is the troubled, orphan, teenage girl who spends all of her free time in a bookstore and then leaves to go and smoke pot with people she barely knows. People who don't even know her real name or age. She's not social, doesn't care about anything except leaving the orphanage, and keeps a distance from everyone. Except her only friend, of course: the eighty-year-old lady who owns the bookstore. Nate Collins is the popular boy who likes to hide his nerdy side to keep up appearances, only dates his girlfriend for the social status, and happens to be infatuated with the mysterious girl who works at Rainy Day Books. When Ever's and Nate's worlds collide, they show each other just how different they truly are, but just how well they can work. Maybe, just maybe, Nate will be the one to show Ever the way of life outside of isolation and intoxication. And maybe Ever will be the one to show Nate that appearances aren't everything and the truth can do more than just hurt you.
