The end of the 19th Century and beginning of the 20th Century is, for many readers, a time of the classical fiction with the main theme "we are not amused". The Opposite is true to this statement. This time could be considered as a golden age of humor for short stories. Authors like Mark Twain, Jerome K. Jerome, and Stephen Leacock created multiple funny stories and many of them became part of our culture. An example of which give you an idea of the sort of humor being delivered "Just try to discuss the price of two guinea pigs with an employee of the parcel service" is a fine example of the sorts of humor in the books. Listen to the phone conversation or use the latest book on education to raise own child. Just think how many of these wonderful stories have inspired modern TV and sitcom creators and you will see, that todays humor is standing on the shoulders of our forefathers who have inspired todays comical work.
