Jackie Easton's a fourteen-year old street kid wanted for murder who flees the big city seeking refuge in "God's Country." The last thing he expects is to be wearing an aviator's cap and goggles on "88," the largest, most powerful steam locomotive the world's ever seen, run by a crazy old coot named Clete in the greatest race since Ben Hur.
