The Company Of The Tiger tells the story of Salim, an Indian boy who is saved from drowning by a tiger known as The Great Babu. But in a vain attempt to save his sick sister, Salim betrays The Great Babu to hunters who provide specimens to European Zoos. Salim's betrayal of the tiger has a devastating effect on his life. Only when he meets with American Jim Mulvaney, can he see a way to salve his conscience. For seven years he has traced the descendants of Babu, and tried to buy a cub and return it to the forest. But his requests are always turned down. So now he decides to steal a cub from Edinburgh Zoo and return to India with it. But knowing he could never pass through an airport or seaport carrying a stolen tiger cub, he decides to make the journey by yacht, and is helped in this endeavour by Mulvaney who, raised on Case Cod, is no stranger to sailing. But will Salim succeed in his quest? The Company Of The Tiger is a tale of adventure, of disappointment, and triumph. It has it's tragic moments, and (the author hopes) its funnier interludes. He hopes you enjoy his efforts.
