Another light-hearted adventure in the Souleater Witches series. When Angela, cousin of the Souleater witches, daughter of an angel and sworn enemy of the Welsh Coven touches an old painting in the basement of an English country house she finds herself being transferred to an imaginary world created by a young girl, Gertrude the Empress, where the Souleater's nemesis, a witchfinder called Jeremiah Pole attempts to have her burnt at the stake. Angela's witch cousins, plus their boyfriend Edgar travel to rescue her, meeting magical fairies, trolls, King Arthur, Lancelot and the other Knights of the Round Table, as well as killer walking plants, flying dinosaurs, a penguin army with choir and an orchestra, and vegetarian polar bears along the way. A coup against Gertrude, a pregnancy, an awkward romance, a ménage à trois and an epic battle ensues.
