The 11th and 12th century was a time of great turmoil. Two Empireswere rising in Europe; the large Empires thankfully were not incompetition. There were also many smaller Kingdoms linked bymarriage contracts who were in conflict; the marriage contractsrequired troops be sent for the slightest infraction. Monarchs were also in conflict with the church includingdisagreements with the Pope. Church troubles were compounded bya schism between the western and eastern churches. An event wasneeded; an event which would unite the entire church. An event wasafoot- the Crusades. This story is about a common man who rose insociety and was on the scene of many of the event depicted in thisoffering. This book is a fictional account of people who lived andsome who are the product of my imagination.
