Oscar the Ostrich is a children's book created to help children who have stress and/or anxiety about going to the doctor. During the book, Dr. McVay makes Oscar all better! Oscar promotes good behavior and the importance of following the doctor's guidelines. It is a great book that will help lower your child's stress and/or anxiety about going to the doctor. Author, Justin Bosley, wrote the book after visiting Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio in 2019. Bosley says "During my visit, it was apparent that I wasn't the only one who was nervous about going to the doctor. Born with an incurable neuromuscular disease, I found myself making multiple trips to the clinic each year. During a route biopic of my leg, I was struck by these little rooms filled with books, toys, and activities for children to do during the visit. The joy it brought to each of the children after returning from surgery was something I will never forget. I hope to one day be able to give back to Nationwide Children's Hospital and build more Blue Rooms and books for children who battle disease and disability.
