After several heartbreaking encounters with his own inner darkness, Reg Darling felt driven to explore and examine the violence buried in that most difficult region of his heart. He began with his familial heritage and very quickly saw that his personal dark side shared a common source with the parallel eruption of rage and violence in American society. Blues for Mr. Hyde is Darling's exploration of the ways both he and our culture have been shaped by the buried rage and trauma of war. No glib conclusions are offered-the meanings live in the stories.
