A Selkie slave and prisoner, Lenny Dolan was sentenced to labor in the ice mines of an ancient, hidden city to search for a mystical item wanted by the crown. Lenny has no intentions of working himself to death for a king he never swore fealty to and a system that has kept him and his loved ones in chains at every turn. He and his father have planned to escape the mines and rally the other slaves to join them in the cause to win freedom for all. But there is little trust among the Selkies, each fearing their fellow prisoners will betray their rebellious plan to the Orcinian guards in exchange for their own freedom. And with his father's continued visions that either of them are soon to die if they do not escape, Lenny doesn't have the luxury of time.
