Sylvana's Blues
Stan McCray
This collection relates the story of a strange old man serving as an informal host to homeless individuals who come to partake of his stews and hear his music. He has largely given up on finding satisfaction in his lifelong search for some kind of fulfillment or self-discovery. Finally, he receives peace through what he learns during an unexpected visit from an even stranger young woman. Stan McCray is an Associate Professor (Emeritus) of linguistics, French and intercultural communication at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He has been a blues guitarist and student of martial arts. He has long been interested in using modes of expression, found in various formal disciplines, to discover a Tao of aesthetics.
