Sitesh Patel learned the power of making values-based, goal-oriented decisions early. As a first-generation American, he grew up wanting to emulate the responsibility and personal leadership he saw in his parents. They helped him understand that each of us, as a citizen, has to work toward building healthier communities. Through disciplined study, he pursued his dream of becoming a board-certified pharmacist. After earning his doctorate degree in pharmacy from Rutgers University, Sitesh went on to build a career in business. A bad decision led to a series of government investigations, charges for a white-collar crime, the loss of his license to serve as a pharmacist, and a prison term. While serving his sentence in federal prison, Sitesh recalibrated. As human beings, we all suffer setbacks. Sometimes those setbacks are of our own making; other times, we're born into hardship.
