Forrest Clayborne is a retired detective from the LAPD living in San Luis Obispo when he gets a call from the Ojai police chief. They have a case where three people have mysteriously died in a place up on the mountain called Pasture's House. The only witness is a man, Simon White, with autism that claims it happened right in front of him. However, there is are a few problems. The first one is there are no bodies. Clayborne is brought in as a consultant to try and help solve the case. The second problem though is this was not the first time people have died in the House and White was there as well. Clayborne has to fight his own demons as he struggles from the death of his wife ten years earlier who was killed by a criminal he put away. At first it seems like an open and shut case. But after a while they realize that something is not right with the place. With no bodies to prove that a crime was committed, and the suspects dwindling, Clayborne and the Ojai PD have to dig into everyone that was involved from seven years earlier to the present. The real twist is when they discover that the people that were supposedly murdered were ghost hunters looking to film a documentary about the place. In everyone's mind, they believe Pasture's House is haunted - likely by Pasture herself who died over fifty years earlier. Pasture's House is a fast paced mystery where clues are rare and subtle and the end is sure to surprise and shock the reader.
