When the first Africans were brought to America in bondage they came from different cultures and they spoke different languages. Once in America, those Africans were forced to abandon their traditions and learn a new culture and a new language. Once the Africans were freed they chose to partake in America's promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Black People are Americans. Like all Americans, Black Americans have a myriad of interest. Through the years, Black Americans have voiced their suffering, yearnings, and contempt. 9 Voices of African Americans is an attempt to explain that Black people are not myopic; instead, they have truly melted into America's pot.
