The artist and writer Helgi Valgeirsson was born in1962, Reykjavík, ICELAND. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Iceland in 1986. Folklores and Icelandic adventures are, and always have been, his favourite stories, among other books and literature. Helgi has worked on a project, writing stories about The Yuletide Lads. They are all very beloved characters in the Icelandic Christmas culture. The main story in the series "The Yuletide Lads is like all the other stories in the series about very special and lovable characters which everybody should know "The Yuletide Lads, sons of Ogress and Ragjerk and their pet The Yuletide Cat. They wake up before Christmas, celebrate the Christmas festive but otherwise they sleep the biggest part of the year." The story happens in Christmas time and is about the troll-family and their activities from they all wake before Christmas celebrate the season and go to sleep again thirteen days after Christmas. Ogress is the giantess who controls her family with iron hand. She and her companion Ragjerk send their sons "The Yuletide Lads" to town with instructions to collect some Christmas food for the Christmas festive season but in return they put a magic potato in the shoes of the children in town. In the time from thirteen days until Christmas the children leave their finest shoe in the window sill for the Yuletide Lads to put in their magic potato which in the shoes of nice and well behaved children turns into a nice gift they find in the morning but in a shoe of naughty children the potato remains a potato. After Christmas the whole family, Ogress, Ragjerk, The yuletide Lads and The yuletide Cat go to sleep again and they sleep the whole time until next Christmas.
