In his mid forties, with half a lifetime's experience in the building trades, Ben set out on a twenty year career as a 'Twilight Nurse', on the District Nurses' Evening Service for a large and mostly rural area in the North of England. Coming to this in mid-career and as an outsider, his observations are funny, touching and insightful. With deep compassion and respect, he tells unique and universal human stories, of people being people, funny and brave, vulnerable and resilient, many near or even at the very end of their lives. His faith in the human spirit shines through on every page.
