Samantha Rey is an author who is on the edge. Struggling with the twin problems of social anxiety and helping her sister Chloe, who has recently returned from Ethiopia with her own issues, she hasn't had any writing success for a long time and fears that her career may have seen its best days. Both sister's lives and fortunes suddenly change when they meet two men. Robert Wyner is a history teacher who is a survivor of an abusive father that he is desperately trying to forgive over the death of his brother Colin, while the enigmatic Jonathan Rutan's near death experience captivates Chloe completely. Discovering that Robert wants to honor his late brother by writing a book, Samantha teams up with him and finds that they are a dynamic force. They set about fulfilling their twin ambitions of resolving the past and writing the next bestseller, but they are faced with mounting challenges along the way, as societal norms and Christian morality threaten to hamper their efforts of leaving behind a legacy they can both feel proud of. Can Samantha dig deep into her talents to produce another bestseller? Does Robert have it in him to finally forgive his comatose father? And has Chloe really found the man of her dreams?
