Dud must navigate a dystopian future in which the gender divide has widened to extreme proportions, the detriment of all, while hoping that his complete inability to arouse women doesn't inadvertently arouse suspicion. Women on Top is an affectionate spoof of The Handmaid's Tale, satirising that novel's gender dynamics, while sharing the warning against extremism inherent in Margaret Atwood's original vision.
