The Japanese High Command wants Guadalcanal and Tulagi back under their control. A cruiser-destroyer task force sails for Tassafronga point to destroy the Allied naval forces there. Then, land the ground forces to drive the American invaders into the sea. The commandoes headed by Sean and Sabrina Randall are deployed to recover classified material on Vangunu Island.
