Scroll below for a video example of this work as played on Finale. This advanced work is scored for trombone quartet. In addition to those four parts, this work could be played by multiple players and by a low brass ensemble. Euphoniums could be paired with and/or substituted for trombones. Tubas could double the 4th trombone part. A part for T. C. Baritone is included, doubling Trombone 3. Substitution parts are included within this volume. The Art of Fugue, BWV 1080, was written during the last decade of Bach's life. It is an example of Bach's experimentation with monothematic instrumental works. The Art of Fugue, an incomplete work consists of 14 fugues and four canons in D minor, each using some variation of a single principal musical thematic subject. The word "contrapunctus" is often used for each fugue. A fugue is a polyphonic compositional technique in two or more voices, also known as counterpoint. Fugue literally means flight. Place this volume in your files. Never worry about having to deal with lost or damaged parts again. The purchaser is free to make copies of parts for rehearsal and performance purposes for years to come.
