This arrangement for string orchestra of Andante Cantabile is taken from Tchaikovsky's String Quartet No. 1 in D, movement 2 (1871). An elegant and moving work, when performed at a concert to celebrate Russian author Leo Tolstoy, it was noted by Tchaikovsky that Tolstoy wept at the end of the movement. In addition to the original string quartet version, Andante Cantabile is often performed as a stand alone string orchestra work or for solo cello and string orchestra. As with all Zephyrwindmusic publications, parts come with an Unlimited Copy License, thus removing any copyright issues in the way parts are used. Parts can be used in analog form - printed on paper - or uploaded as a digital part onto a reading device such as an iPad for performance.
