Targus is b'nei anusim, youngest in a family descended from Spanish Jews coerced by the Inquisition to convert to Christianity. Some fled, going to all corners of the Earth. Targus' tale begins in Seattle in 1989 when accounts of his family's histories are remembered. At 19, Targus leaves to visit his father in Paris, lives his dream to canoe the Seine, studies architecture and stumbles into life-changing adventures along the way. His maturing involves solving riddles about himself. He finds love - and a family mystery. Abandoning a career designing adobe buildings in New Mexico, his path leads to his final epiphany in the Andalusian city, Jerez de la Frontera, where his cherished notions of "the invisible in the visible" prove more real than imagined, provoking his final Tell.
