We all have them. Those moments. The instances that change our lives forever. Maybe it's a knock on the door? A phone call? It's the weight that crushes your soul, the wave that drowns you, the split second you would do anything to change. For me, this time, it was my husband's cancer diagnosis. But... What if we shifted our understanding of these moments. What if we could look at them, as horrible as they are, as opportunities. Dave's cancer changed me. It changed him. It changed our marriage. We chose to accept it as a gift. In doing so, we became. These moments that change us... They transform who we are and how we see ourselves. They adjust our perception of the world and our place in it. If someone had offered me a book called "The Gift of Cancer" in the beginning of this journey, I would have lost my mind. The anger was consuming. The devastation was crippling. But, through this process, through loving and being open, I was able to see things differently.
