A Manual of the Operations of Surgery (Illustrated)
Joseph Bell
A practical and simple guide to the most common surgeries executed at the time of publication, in the mid-19th Century. This was an incredibly influential manual, from Queen Victoria's surgeon. Bell is perhaps best known as the inspiration for the Sherlock Holmes character. Upon reading the logical manner in which he describes the procedures, we can see the source of Arthur Conan Doyle's fascination.
