Shegaon is a town located in Maharashtra on the central rail line from Mumbai to Nagpur. Situated in the Buldana district of Maharashtra, the town is sacred for devotees of Gajanan Maharaj, one of the saints of the modern era. Although his origins remain mostly unknown, the Saint was first seen in Shegaon in 1878, eating leftover grains of rice thrown out as waste on a plate of leaves.

When a child is born in India, America or in China, it weeps and laughs alike. It is the interaction with the world around him later on, which moulds his thoughts. As a part of nurturing, there comes a stage in every child's life when he is encouraged to read the newspaper, to keep abreast with the times. Today the first few pages are replete with the negative shades of life and in this backdrop Shegaon presents itself as a refreshing change and shining example of pure and selfless service with no commercial angle to the services rendered and facilities created. The model is equally inspiring to the young and the old.
