Phil's Story: An Autobiography - My (small) part in Hitler's downfall!
Jan Dick
This is a first hand account of Phillip Dalby's experiences as a wireless telegraphist in the Royal Navy during World War 2.
It details his training at Butlins in Skegness, service aboard and the sinking of HMS Gurkha, service aboard a ship with wooden guns, special service in the deserts of North Africa and the bombardments of Pantelleria, Lampadusa, Sicily and Salerno.
It also gives a fascinating incite into the social history of the interwar years in York and Sunderland.
