Rainbows and Sunsets is a strong wrap up of a trilogy that began with Chasing Unicorns and continued into #soiknowitsreal. This book is a release of things that she has wanted to express but didn't because she, at times, either had been hesitant to share, did not have the words or did not want to have it written.

Rachel shows tremendous vulnerability regarding the many hats that she wears that make up the whole of who she is. There are parts that read like love letters to her parents allowing readers to get a glimpse into precious moments. Readers will watch as Rachel processes her thoughts as a daughter, and watch as she steps outside of those moments and looks at her parents as people who were parenting the best way they could with what they knew-- even in its imperfection.

Rainbows and Sunsets is akin to being privy to a diary full of Rachel's insights on being a black woman, dealing with love and being of service to others. Not only does she leave lessons and instructions for her sons to be better men and people throughout the book, but she also shows them that sometimes their mom didn't have everything figured out and had times of uncertainty.

In Rainbows and Sunsets, Rachel shows that she is a daughter, a mother, a black woman, a lover, a servant, a triumphant writer and so much more.
