When Gloria goes on home to spend Christmas with her family and busy boyfriend, Charles, she is shocked and saddened by how much the small town has changed. The places she once loved have all been replaced by corporate chains, draining the purity and simplicity of Newbury Falls. Even Downing Bakery, a place which has been in business for five generations, is at the mercy of the changing times. Wanting to preserve what remains of her childhood home, Gloria becomes determined to save the bakery.
