A Song For Achilles
Costas Komborozos
Calliope, the Muse of Epic Poetry, has observed Achilles from his auspicious beginnings to his untimely demise in Troy. She witnessed the moment when Thetis was about to immortalize the infant Achilles. She watched as Peleus interrupted this moment and caused Achilles to have a mortal flaw. A woman allows Achilles to enter the modern world. Her arrival in a Greek island allows her to envision a palace that can allow Achilles to overcome his tragic flaw. She builds a flawless palace in order to fully immortalize Achilles. She falls in love with Achilles, but a flaw in the palace implies that Achilles will once again have a short time left to live.
