Trina Petersheim's family has struggled since the death of her father. When a job opportunity with the newcomer in town is offered, she accepts. She is hesitant to become a housekeeper for an Englischer but soon finds herself enjoying speaking with the elderly professor. However, Trina's aunt is furious that she's working for an Englischer. She makes it her mission to find a husband for Trina.

Trina wants to help the professor but must go behind his back to do so, will he be angry when he learns what she's done.

Elmer Reno is an expert when it comes to horses but knows nothing about women. He gets nervous in social situations and often fumbles over his words. He remembers Trina from school and would like to court her but feels all is lost when he sees Trina speaking with a young English man.
