After Wilder is attacked and shot with ultraviolet by Ethan and Patty Ann, Velvet decides things are getting out of hand. With or without her powers, she has to step back into the game and declare herself a viable player. Meanwhile, Wilder does not miss a beat with his personal plans for Fairlight. He has moved on and declared Deborah his mistress but is reluctant to sever ties with Velvet Washington and Associates. Also, he has decided it is time to bring Jerome back into the brood. He demands Takeru return Jerome's body or he will declare the pack as enemies of the brood.

But these days, the pack and Velvet are tight. Troy is back and Takeru is still sticking around as promised. The monster inside him has left which allows Troy to return. Velvet is over the moon to have her true love back in her life, and she tries to minimize her feeling for Takeru. Is it possible to love two men at the same time? She does but doesn't want to roll that way.

New developments and drama occur with the Council. Sister Zara has demands and a revelation or two, now that Velvet is on the road to recovery. However, Velvet won't be manipulated into taking on responsibilities she is not sure she wants or needs at this time. She has to find out what happened to Ethan and Milton in Amsterdam. And figure if the monster who resided in Takeru is still a threat to him even though she has protected him with the last bit of magic she possessed.

Strange happenings are going on in Fairlight.
