When Israel stood on the shores of the Red Sea with the Egyptian army closing from behind, the act of faith was not that the waters parted. To think that would be to dramatize the work of faith. The real act of faith was that they had to walk through a mile or more of seabed with the imminent possibility of the walls of water crashing down and drowning them. They believed and went on anyway; that is Faith. You will find some of the following thoughts as you read: Faith is not instant - miracles are sudden manifestations of God's power, but faith takes time. Abraham waiting till he was 99 to have a child is one of many examples, and he is the Father of faith. Faith is a fight - You enlist in an army to fight real enemies when you begin the journey of faith. You will be shot at, so have your shield (faith) ready. Faith is Belief, Action, Results - You conceive and idea, or believe in something, you put all your efforts into it, and in time you experience the outcome you desire. Faith is a principle - so anyone can exercise it. It is not restricted to Christians. Faith that God is, and that He rewards those who seek Him, is the lifestyle of believers. In this book, a layman communicates with another layman, laying out the biblical references and sewing the pieces together to make a comprehensible whole. He does it in the hope that you will join him in the journey to discovery and to experience the joy of arriving at the destination of understanding.
