Horatio Southgate
This book is a narrative of Horatio Southgate's encounters with the Assyrians and other Christian minorities in Mesopotamia and sheds light on the lives of these people and their churches in the 19th Century. Horatio Southgate (1812-1894) was born in Portland, Maine. He was consecrated as a missionary bishop for the Ottoman Empire in 1844 and traveled several years in Mesopotamia and other parts of the Middle East.
