A right to advocacy has the potential to further the paradigm shift from welfare to rights- based legal provision for persons with disabilities as enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Advocacy is a new concept in the disability sector in Nepal. The sole aim of this research is to explore the potential for advocacy to improve access to legal entitlements for persons with disabilities and support the rights to personal autonomy. Article 12 of CRPD (equality before the law) and CRPD Article 19 (right to live independently in the community) unequivocally facilitate disabled full participation in society.
