Patients on mechanical ventilator experience anxiety and physiological stress. Sedating them can help those patients to cope up with ET tube, to bear all the interventions, for accessing adequate oxygenation and above all safety of the patient is also assured. My book deals with the importance of practicing sedation scales for mechanically ventilated patients on sedation. By the use of these scales, the patients will get adequate sedation and can go through an uneventful mechanical ventilation process. These scales can also prevent oversedation or under sedation of patients, both of which can be proved dangerous to the patients. If these scales are used properly, then the length of mechanical ventilator days / ICU days will not get prolonged. Sedation management is a very important process in every ICU's. Along with this, I also dealt with the characteristics of patients when they are on a mechanical ventilator under sedation. A brief observation and evaluation is done in this study on mechanically ventilated patients who are also under sedation in my hospital settings.
