Marginal leakage seems to be an inherent short coming of all dental restorations.' Leaky margins may result in postoperative sensitivity, invasion by bacteria and subsequent inflammatory changes in the pulp and the development of secondary caries. For good marginal adaptation, adequate physical and mechanical properties of the filling material and its careful manipulation are required. Therefore, the dental restorative material should possess the ability to chemically or physically bond, or a combination of both to the tooth structure.
